With the recent good weather, work will resume soon on the 14th Avenue SE project. You will likely see crews start to mobilize as early as March 5. This will complete the carry-over work from last construction season.
Below is a short summary of what to anticipate in the months ahead:
Utility work will begin just east of 39th Street, including water main on the south side of the street, and storm sewer on the north side.
As soon as weather permits, crews will work to complete intersections, driveways and sidewalks. Please expect closures on Harold Dr and at the intersection of 14th Avenue and 36th Street.
Once utility work is finished, the remaining length from 39th Street to 42nd Street will be reconstructed one section at a time. To reduce the overall time required for construction, the section being worked on will be fully closed to traffic. Please make use of nearby on-street parking during these times.
For properties east of 39th Street: You may temporarily lose access to your driveway while work is taking place in front of your house. Crews will use a temporary rock fill to restore driveway access until weather allows the permanent paving to take place.
All locations: After new driveways are poured, it may take up to a week before you can drive on the new concrete.
Garbage and recycling can be placed out as usual. The contractor will make sure the bins are returned.
Construction is expected to finish by early summer, assuming average temperatures and rainfall.
