Midway Chamber Coffee Club @ Yellowbird Coffee Bar
In the summer of 2019, St. Paul’s Lex-Ham (Lexington-Hamline) neighborhood welcomed Yellowbird Coffee Bar to their community. The shop is a testament to the power of genuine connections and a community’s dedication to supporting their neighbors. Reflective of local flair as locally sourced, Yellowbird’s menu is filled with unique flavors, offering a wide range of hot and cold espresso drinks, drip coffee, tea, sandwiches, soup, and pastries. A refreshingly moist banana chip muffin or a delectable chocolate croissant pairs perfectly with a cup of coffee.

Reconnect Rondo and Rethinking I-94
Two big projects are being discussed which would greatly shape Interstate 94 between the two downtowns: Reconnect Rondo and Rethinking I-94. Reconnect Rondo would create a community land bridge around the site of the historic Rondo community. Rethinking I-94 is a long-term effort to engage with those who live, work, and play along the corridor to better understand the needs and hopes of our neighborhood. One of the potential outcomes is called the Twin Cities Boulevard and would replace the existing freeway with a multi-modal boulevard and return the surrounding land to neighborhoods. Our presenters will include representatives from Reconnect Rondo, Our Street MPLS and MNDOT.
This meeting will be held on the 9th floor at the former Central Medical building on the north side of the freeway, allowing us views of I-94 to better visualize both projects.

Apprenticeship and You–An Emerging Path to a Meaningful Career
Wednesday, April 10, 2024
6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Apprenticeship instead of a traditional four-year degree? Yes!
Increasingly more US students and families are choosing apprenticeships as the debt-free, post secondary education option leading to a rewarding and high paying career.
Join us for a free event to learn about innovative local and national/international apprenticeship opportunities for both youth and adults seeking an alternative career pathway. During this event, we’ll share more about how companies in the United States are adopting apprenticeship models similar to that of Germany. Hear directly from the directors of the apprenticeship programs at Bühler and ICATAP and learn about other nationally recognized apprenticeship options in business, marketing, education, engineering, and aerospace.
The Germanic-American Institute is hosting this event as an Apprenticeship Ambassador for the US Department of Labor and Industry. In 2019 the federal governments of Germany and the United States signed a joint declaration to “facilitate cooperation in supporting international initiatives and shared lessons related to apprenticeship, youth employment and the future of work.”
Whether you’re a student or parent looking for an alternative to the college path, an educator investigating additional career options for your students, or your current job is leaving you unfulfilled and you’re looking for career retraining while maintaining your wages – apprenticeship can empower your future.
