Yonkers Tennis Community...
What feels like just days ago, we were screaming "Happy New Year!" and in a blink of an eye, the snow has melted and warmer temps are ahead!
2025 is moving at warp speed, but we think we can keep up.
Our clinics are in full swing for Session II. Congrats to you on all your hard work, we love helping you achieve your goals, one step at a time.

- Summer League Options "YTC League | USTA | UTR"
We often talk about the impact we have on you, but today, I want to highlight the impact you have on us. I have recently taken a leave of absense to help with an incredibly delicate family matter in Zimbabwe. At the heart of it, the task has to do mental health, knowing how to communicate in different voices/styles & learning to ask for help before one is overwhelmed.
We meet each other for a game of tennis, yet each of us comes in different head spaces. Sometimes, everything on the outside is peachy and in the very same breathe for someone else, their world is on fire.
In the formative years of my profession, I honestly thought that a tennis coach's role was to facililatate knowledge of the game. But it is so much more! As a close friend and coaching mentor said to me:
"Being a coach demands unwavering commitment to your players. While convenience may be appealing, true player development requires personalized interaction, recognizing that each individual is unique. As a coach, you must embody the roles of artist, scientist, therapist, and manager, balancing personal well-being with the demands of the profession. Wearing many hats, you're a source of guidance for many, and the ultimate reward lies in witnessing their growth. Each environment presents its own set of challenges & varying circumstances, negotiations, and politics. Yet, at the end of the day, excellence prevails."
Being away from you all (players and staff) really makes me understand what COMMUNITY means. I have rescources around me that challenge me physically, emotionally and mentally (even though you sometimes drive me up the wall!). However, I would not trade our corner pocket on I-87 for anything in this world. You truly all make it a pleasure to be associated with Yonkers Tennis.
See you soon.
