POSTPONED: February 5 Gala Concert We regretfully announce that our Gala Concert originally planned for New Year’s Eve and rescheduled to February 5, 2022 must once again be postponed. With COVID infections from the Omicron variant on the decrease but still currently at around 5,000 new cases per day in King County (as of 1/20/2022), we feel that it would be unwise and not in the best interests of public health to present a choral concert until the transmission of Omicron has reached more reasonable levels. The new concert date is to be announced after the threat from Omicron has passed, but it will not occur until after Easter. The St. James music staff appreciates your patience and understanding as we navigate through these bumps and obstacles preventing us from a full return to our live concert series.
MASS WITH ANOINTING OF THE SICK On Friday, February 11, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, Father Ryan will celebrate a special Mass including the sacrament of the anointing of the sick. If you are seriously ill, facing surgery, or experiencing the weakness that comes with old age, you are encouraged to celebrate this sacrament of healing.

JOB OPENING: Wedding and Funeral Coordinator St. James Cathedral has an opening for Parish Wedding and Funeral Coordinator. In addition to responsibility for scheduling and overseeing steps in the wedding and funeral process, and interfacing with individuals and families, this position will provide administrative and pastoral support services to the parish. SINCE I BEEN DOWN: A Film, A Conversation, A Call to Action Co-Sponsored by the St. James Restorative Justice Committee This is a film about Kimonti Carter. Although sentenced to 700 years in prison, he became an inspirational role model within the prison system. This film unravels why children commit violent crime and how these children–now adults–are breaking free from their fate by creating a model of justice that is transforming their lives, our humanity and the quality of life for all our children. PREPARES (Pregnancy and Parenting Support) is a nurturing response of the Catholic community in Washington State to “walk the journey” with pregnant and parenting women, men, and families with children up to age 5 who find themselves lacking a healthy support network. The program, an initiative of our state’s bishops, came into being five years ago. Around the state, PREPARES has been active in helping provide basic needs to parents and their children, organizing parent support groups, providing opportunities for parents and children to get together, and family companions to share relationships with a parent in the community. In our parish, our initial efforts to initiate PREPARES had some success but have fallen by the wayside over the years. It’s time to resurrect the program here. For PREPARES to become active at St. James, we need volunteers. Volunteers need to attend a PREPARES orientation dealing with important rules and information about working with families.
