Rev. Tara S. Gibbs is associate minister of spiritual formation at Myers Park Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC. Originally from New Bern, NC, she holds an undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and graduate degrees from Shaw University and Princeton Theological Seminary. Currently, Tara is pursuing a Doctorate of Educational Ministry at Columbia Theological, and plans to continue researching the lack of accessible & updated Christian curriculum for churches. Since licensing in 2010 she has preached for numerous conferences, special church services, and state Baptist association sessions; she has also taught and guest lectured at local universities including University of Wisconsin--Madison and University of North Carolina at Charlotte, typically focusing on womanist spirituality. Outside of her studies & clergy work, Tara has partnered with education non-profits, mentored in local schools, and volunteered with medical facilities for reproductive justice.
