McALLEN/PHARR – Motorists traveling westbound on I-2 at the Pharr Interchange should expect ongoing traffic impacts and delays beginning July 12 as crews perform bridge work on the Jackson Road bridge.
Closure Dates and Locations
Sunday, July 12, and Sunday, July 19
- Nightly full closures of the westbound I-2 main lanes in Pharr. Traffic will be diverted to exit at Sugar Road and will be able to re-enter the main lanes at the Jackson Road entrance ramp.
- Nightly full closures of the direct connector from Edinburg to McAllen
Beginning July 13 – July 26

Westbound I-2 main lanes in Pharr will be continuously reduced to two lanes between Cage Boulevard and Jackson Road.
- The direct connector from Edinburg to McAllen will also be reduced to a single lane during this time, impacting southbound I-69C traffic at the interchange.
- Continuous closure of the Veterans Boulevard entrance ramp to westbound I-2
These closures and lane reductions are expected to cause delays. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes, allow additional travel time and use caution when traveling through the area.
