The Message this Week
Preaching Text: Acts 2:1-21; Philippians 4:4-7
We find ourselves back in the beginning of Acts. We hear about the day of Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit. The day of Pentecost was 50 days after Passover, just a short while since Jesus was crucified and resurrected. The disciples are struggling with how to continue to spread the Gospel without Jesus’ earthly presence. As the disciples are gathered together the Holy Spirit comes crashing through and empowers them to spread the Gospel throughout all nations. Let us reflect on what it means for God’s Spirit to come into our midst.
God the Holy Spirit, you bestow your Spirit upon us in many ways. You breathed life into humanity at Creation and have continued to breathe life into our lives. Continue to lead us with your Spirit to spread the mission of the Gospel.
