Strategic action for change is the founding purpose of the Memphis Area Women’s Council as we speak out for safety, justice and equity every day for women and girls.
Our mantra is “Convene Collaborate Communicate = Change.”
We stand therefore in full support of voices raised here and in all 50 states demanding justice and safety for people of color since the killing of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and too many more.
As we thank all who march and lead - we reaffirm our founding principle of raising the voices of all women and girls – from every neighborhood, every zip code, every faith community, every race.
As we recognize the powerful role women play today and in all social justice movements - we reaffirm our longtime work to honor, celebrate and preserve history of local women as leaders, changemakers and creators through 36 years of Women of Achievement.
As we join in condemning violence, racism and oppression that permeates systems that should protect us, we vow to strengthen our work to end the violence that makes our most intimate relationships treacherous and even deadly for too many women and girls of all races but especially black, indigenous and women of color.
The Memphis Area Women’s Council is committed to inclusive voices, diverse leadership and united, strategic action for change.
May all who believe in justice and equity stand strong in these days.
We must not rest until lifesaving, life-enriching change is real and enduring, for all.
