As Convention 2022 quickly approaches, we wanted to share an update of the schedule and what to expect.

At the end of April, we shared some important updates about our Convention planning as the timing coincides with the closing of Supreme Court's sessions. Since our last update, Supreme Court Justice Alito’s draft opinion was leaked to various media outlets advancing the conversations around the Supreme Court's decision. While the Supreme Court's final decision may still coincide with the timing of our Convention, we do not anticipate the same level of disruption that we were originally anticipating and have adjusted our Convention planning accordingly.

As a precaution, we will still keep all Convention activities on-site at the hotel to avoid any safety or security issues that may result due to potential activities occurring in Washington, D.C. We do not anticipate any security issues at the hotel given its distance from Washington, D.C.  

As for the schedule, we are adding some additional programming opportunities throughout the weekend. In addition to our business-focused Plenary sessions, our programming will focus on the central theme of reconnecting with our common ties while building empathy and resilience among our sisterhood. Additionally, we have a series of programs focused on advancing and supporting our shared cause of "school and college readiness." The updated schedule of events can be viewed below.

Over the next few weeks, you will receive additional information to help you prepare for Convention including: Bylaws education, updated candidate profiles, an online Plenary 101 training, packing lists and more. As the primary purpose of Convention is to conduct Phi Sigma Sigma's biannual business meeting we expect attendees to showcase Phi Sigma Sigma in the best light and maintain the business chic tone of the weekend. This year, we have made some intentional changes to the dress code with the hopes that attendees can source their Convention attire from items they already own, reducing the cost of Convention attendance.

Below we have included the dress code for each Convention event to assist you in planning and packing. Note - there will be a photographer on-site to help capture the weekend.

While we each have our own Phi Sigma Sigma story, our ritual is one common experience that unites us all. Due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of our chapters have not experienced an in-person Initiation as it was intended. Therefore, on Friday night we will be hosting a model Initiation ceremony, during which we will initiation a class of initiates with honorary membership in recognition of their support of Phi Sigma Sigma.
