Orange County Convention Center Headlines Mainstage at 2019 IAEE Expo! Expo!

The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) and Visit Orlando took the main stage at the 2019 International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) Expo! Expo! Annual Meeting & Exhibition during the first week of December in Las Vegas, Nev. The event attracted more than 2,300 attendees representing 32 countries.

During the General Session, OCCC Deputy Director Yulita Osuba and Visit Orlando Chief Sales Officer Mike Waterman provided an overview on the Center's $605 million North-South Expansion and new destination offerings.
Team Orlando, which includes the Sales Team from the OCCC, Visit Orlando and OCCC Service Partners Centerplate, FedEx, Smart City Networks and LMG, joined the convention booth to network with clients and share the extraordinary customer service and destination experiences attendees can enjoy in Orlando and at the OCCC. Executive Chef K provided Centerplate’s signature seasonal treat, Eggnog Mousse, which was a holiday hit at the booth shared by Team Orlando.

Orange County Convention Center Ends 2019 with a Successful Fourth Quarter
|
The OCCC is proud to celebrate another successful quarter to close out 2019. The Center of Hospitality welcomed more than 290,000 guests across 36 events from October to December, contributing an estimated $656.2 million in economic impact to the Central Florida region.

|
More than 42,000 industry professionals gathered at the OCCC from Nov. 19-22, to attend IAAPA Expo 2019. The premier conference and trade show for the global attractions industry contributed approximately $107.8 million in economic impact for the Central Florida region this year.

The American Kennel Club (AKC), the world’s largest purebred dog registry and leading advocate for dogs, welcomed Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings at the 2019 AKC National Championship Presented by Royal Canin on Sunday, Dec. 15, to present the AKC Humane Fund Award for Canine Excellence (ACE) in the Uniformed Services Dog Category.

More than 17,000 industry professionals from around the globe gathered at the OCCC from Dec. 2-5, to attend the 2019 Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), presented by the National Training and Simulation Association, an affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association.

Orange County Board of County Commissioners Approves Contract for Architectural and Engineering Design Firm for the North-South Building Expansion
|
The Orange County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approved the architectural and engineering design services contract with Populous + C.T. Hsu, a Joint Venture, for the OCCC’s North-South Building Expansion. The total contract award amount is $38,389,062. The decision was made at the Dec. 17 BCC meeting.

OCCC Employees Spread Holiday Cheer to Children in Need
|
In true holiday spirit, OCCC employees donated a total of 132 toys to Great Oaks Village (GOV) in December.
Orange County has been home to GOV for more than 95 years, one of the most historic residential foster homes for children and young adults in the state. With more than 60 residents, the generous donations put forward by the OCCC ensured that no child went without during the holiday season.

Construction Manager at Risk
The Construction Manager at Risk Selection Phase I of the Procurement Committee convened on Dec. 18, 2019. The Selection Phase II, BCC Selection and Ranking is scheduled for Jan. 28, 2020.
Commonly known as the CMAR, the term refers to a specific type of project delivery method and a contractual relationship to coordinate, oversee and deliver a facility for a guaranteed maximum price

Geo-technical Services and Construction Materials Testing Inspection Services
The Procurement Committee convened on Dec. 4, 2019 and the BCC approval for contract negotiations is scheduled for Jan. 14, 2020.
Geotechnical engineering, testing, and inspection services includes the geotechnical investigation and engineering recommendations necessary to maintain the building foundation, slab, paving, sidewalk designs and other major building upkeep.

Whole Building Commissioning Services Bids
Bid proposals were received for Whole Building Commissioning Services received on Dec. 17 and the Procurement Committee is scheduled for Jan. 15, 2020.
Whole Building Commissioning is a quality-oriented process for verifying and documenting the performance of the building envelope, which includes roofing, walls, windows and doors. The building systems, comprised of life safety, heating and air conditioning, electrical and lighting are verified to meet design objectives and criteria.
The Commissioning Agent uses methods and tools to verify that the project is achieving design objectives and project requirements throughout the design, construction, testing, and startup of the project.
