As soon as Sweet Adelines International’s message was received Thursday regarding the cancellation of all 2020 Regional Conventions, your Convention Team kicked into high gear and got in touch with our partners in St Catharines. We have great news to share!
Housing
We are very grateful and pleased to announce that all of our hotels – Hampton Inn, Best Western Hotel and Conference Centre and Four Points Sheraton – have all allowed us to cancel our contracts without penalty. This applies to all sleeping rooms and banquet bookings made through our block. There is no need for you to contact the hotel – all is taken care of. It does not however apply if a friend or relative contacted the hotel directly and made a reservation. These individuals will have to contact the hotel themselves to cancel.
If you made a deposit or made payment in full for a meal, you will be reimbursed by the hotel. CCL's please stand by for further instructions
Registration
Non-member guests All Events Tickets will be reimbursed in full. Please give our Registration and Housing Manager, Cathy Stovold and Finance Coordinator, Colleen O’Dwyer, a few days to get everything sorted. You will hear from them soon.
Audio/Visual
If you ordered photos or videos, you will be reimbursed in full. Please give our Audio/Visual Coordinator, Liz Gibbs and Finance Coordinator, Colleen O’Dwyer, a few days to get everything sorted. You will hear from them soon.

Awards
We hope that you will all take advantage of the video contest announced in the message from International. Full criteria will soon come from the International and the Regional Management Team and Convention Team are already discussing ways of assisting choruses and quartets in this process.
Our Awards Manager, Diane Seaward, has plenty of medals and the Convention Team is brainstorming ideas on how to make presentations! We still want you to experience the thrill of receiving an award!!
Similarly, the Regional Leadership Award recipient has been selected and we’ve come up with a great way to make that presentation special! Stand by!!
Other
The Performing Arts Center is closing their doors until April 6th, therefore our contract with them has been cancelled without penalty as well. In addition, all bussing contracts have been cancelled without penalty.
Thank YOU!
We know how disappointed you all are that convention has been cancelled – we are too - and it’s okay to be sad! We are very grateful for your understanding and support! We are here for you so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
In addition to the cancellation of our rehearsals for the next few weeks, we are aware that many of our rehearsal spaces have been shut down and access to chorus property denied.
We do not yet know the details of the contingency plan mentioned in the SAI communication, but you can be assured that when we do we will again spring into action and will provide guidance to our members.
