As we approach the end of our fiscal year, it is with tremendous pride and gratitude that we reflect on all we have come through together!

This year, with your support, 64 learners received virtual tutoring instruction, 186 learners enrolled in online Conversation Groups, and 8 learners attended online Beginner English classes, all supported by EAL staff and 133 committed volunteers. My next email in September will include more details on the achievement of our learners as part of our FY2021 Program Impact Report.

Looking ahead to the fall, we are so excited to be planning a return to in-person programs, especially for those learners whose instruction was put on hold due to challenges brought on by COVID-19.

New volunteer tutors will begin their training in September, and we will begin matching learners from our waitlist for in-person tutoring beginning in October.

In addition, we recently sent a survey to area and partner libraries to coordinate our plans to move group programs back to in-person this fall.

We can hardly wait to see you all!

I hope you enjoy the summer, and are able to connect with those you've missed most this past year.

Thank you for your continued support of English At Large.

Best regards,

Maureen Willis, Executive Director

Introducing our 2021 Summer Interns!
Leah, Rebecca, Ariana, and Abby are volunteering their time with EAL this summer as part of our
Summer Internship Program.

Working individually and in teams, their virtual service includes organizing our Beginner English curriculum, identifying learner resources, developing interview projects for our volunteers and learners, hosting volunteer networking activities, and facilitating online Conversation Groups.

Their service and community spirit supports EAL staff and volunteers and helps us provide Online Conversation Groups for area learners.

Thank you for your commitment to local immigrants!
