I am so excited to have the opportunity to introduce you to our PAL volunteers, whose service during our summer pilot was invaluable to our efforts to develop this new program. Please join me in thanking this special group of dedicated volunteers for their outstanding work. Thank you PAL Volunteers, for helping us teach and welcome local Afghan refugees!
This success has inspired us to begin work on another new EAL Program, one designed specifically for English learners with limited literacy skills. More information on our progress will be shared in future newsletters.
The recent growth of our service area and the addition of new programs has created opportunities for new volunteers to join us in our work. Read on for more information on how you can get involved!
I also want to give special recognition as well to our program staff
, Csilla and Sarah, and to Julia, our former AmeriCorps member, who created the PAL curriculum and supported our PAL volunteers. Despite these additional duties, our fall programs kicked off this week on schedule, with 17 Conversation Groups enrolled, tutor-learner matching underway, and a new tutor training set to begin in October. The amount of work we are able to accomplish with such a small staff and budget is truly amazing!
Your interest and support helps make all this possible.
Thank you for your continued commitment to English At Large.
