Greetings!
While many local programs are winding down, English At Large is gearing up for a busy summer and a return to in-person group programs!
We will be hosting in-person Conversation Groups in five communities this summer. These are the first groups to meet in person since the start of the pandemic.
We will also offer local learners the opportunity to join a Book Group. Groups will be offered in four local communities, for intermediate learners unable to attend a Conversation Group.
We are grateful for the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and community partners as we make the transition back to in-person services. For the comfort, health and safety of our learners and volunteers, EAL has a vaccination policy in place - all participants must to fully vaccinated to participate in in-person programs.
We are pleased to announce the summer pilot of a new program! Through the generous support of the
Highwind Impact Fund, English At Large is developing a new program specifically for Afghan refugees. The
Program for Afghan Learners (PAL) will help locally resettled refugees gain the English and literacy skills they need in daily life.
Interested in volunteering with PAL? Read on!
As we head into the summer, we will also be recruiting volunteers to serve on our Board of Directors, and partnering with NAIP to engage people in service through the
AmeriCorps program.
Please reach out to me directly if you are interested in getting more involved with English At Large. Your service makes a difference!
Thank you for your continued commitment to English At Large.
Best regards,
Maureen
