Cook County is conducting a Disparity Study of its Minority- and Women-Owned Business enterprise (“M/WBE”) program to ensure that M/WBEs have equal access to contracting opportunities and that the County’s current program remains legally defensible and administratively successful. The study will examine whether MBE and WBE contract goals remain necessary to ensure a level playing field for all firms. This includes statistical evidence of disparities, if any, between the availability of M/WBEs and their utilization on County- funded contracts and related subcontracts and throughout the area economy as a whole. The study will further examine qualitative experiences and recommendations of business owners and stakeholder groups. As such, your participation is critical to informing the study results and recommendations.
A public information webinar scheduled for Monday, November 9, 2020 at 2:00 will introduce the study team, present the study elements and methodology, describe the study process, and outline how stakeholders and business owners can participate. Cook County welcomes the participation of all business owners, those who are currently doing business with the County, as well as those interested in contracting opportunities. Please join the webinar to learn about this important project and how you can participate.
