Cook up some Healthy Snacks for

Father's Day

We here at H&H Child Care Training Center want to not only encourage healthy eating habits amongst children, but also encourage that one-on-one time with the father figures in a child's life.

Due to this, we  have created courses to help providers like yourself learn how to create healthy and nutritious meals and snack ideas for the children and families in your program.

Such online courses are

Getting children to try new foods is often a struggle and can leave both the child and the adult frustrated, tired, and possibly, still hungry!

Here are some healthy snack ideas that you can either try with your children, or share with their families, to help introduce children to new and healthy foods:

Smoothies: blend fat free or low fat yogurt or milk with fresh fruit pieces and crushed iced.

Caterpillar kabobs: assemble chunks of melon, apple, orange, and pears on skewers for a fruity kabob. For a vegetable version, use zucchini, cucumber, squash, sweet peppers, or tomatoes.

Personalized pizzas: set up a pizza making station within

the classroom. Use whole- wheat English muffins, bagels, or pita bread as the crust. Have tomato sauce, low fat cheese, and cut up vegetables or fruits for toppings. Let the children create their own pizzas, pop them in the oven to warm, then enjoy!

Bugs on a log: use celery, cucum- ber, or carrot sticks as the logs and add either peanut butter (or an alternative nut free spread). Have the children add the spread to their logs and add either raisins, cranber- ries, or cherries for their bugs.
