DESIGN/BUILD FOOD PROCESSING & DISTRIBUTION CENTER PROJECT
NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI

JAX Refrigeration, Inc. was contracted to Design and Install Refrigeration Systems for a 200,000-square-foot Protein slicing and packaging facility in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. MEAS provided full Engineering Design, including stamped and signed Drawings, P&IDs, Layouts, Schedules, and PSM for the Refrigeration System. JAX Refrigeration furnished and installed all related compressors, condensers, recirculators, receivers, evaporators, penthouse units, vessels, and RMAUs, along with associated hangers, stands, piping, valves, and fittings. JAX Refrigeration Service executed System Startup, along with pressure testing, vacuum, charge, pull-down, and Commissioning.

This project was successfully completed in 2020.
DRY SAUSAGE DC EXPANSION + FACILITY UPGRADES PROJECT
WEST JORDAN, UT

JAX Refrigeration was contracted to design and install the Ammonia Refrigeration System, as well as install associated HVAC and insulated metal panel walls, doors, and thermal underfloor for a Facility located in West Jordan, Utah. The project scope included Freezers and Coolers for dry sausage processing, along with other facility Refrigeration System upgrades.
JAX Refrigeration was the Engineer of Record for this project, also performing the Refrigeration, Mechanical (HVAC), and Thermal (IMP) installation. The project included the installation of hygienic air handling units and a new central ammonia machine room to support the grinding, cooking, drying, packaging, and shipment of product.
JAX held an integral role in this project, which required delicate coordination with the various processing
equipment, robotics, and drying room suppliers (from Italy). JAX worked with local jurisdictions to ensure
that nearby neighborhoods were protected per best practices and local codes.

This project was successfully completed in 2011,
along with additional major Projects in 2014 and 2015.
FACILITY RENOVATION + EQUIPMENT RELOCATION PROJECT
RAEFORD, NC

JAX Refrigeration was chosen as the Design/Build Refrigeration Contractor for the renovation of an existing Plant in Raeford, North Carolina, in 2015. JAX was responsible for the Design and Installation of the Refrigeration System, which also involved the relocation of existing equipment among facilities.
JAX Refrigeration was the Engineer of Record for this project, also performing installation of Refrigeration Systems and all associated items. JAX worked directly with local jurisdictions to ensure that nearby neighborhoods were protected per best practices and local codes. Following this Project, JAX continued to successfully collaborate directly with the end-user, providing Refrigeration Service and Parts for this Raeford, North Carolina Facility among others.

This project was successfully completed in 2016.
FACILITY RENOVATION + EQUIPMENT RELOCATION PROJECT

The facility now boasts a new 101,125 square foot freezer warehouse complex, helping to grow the retailer’s
capabilities in the area. JAX Refrigeration installed (2) separate Ammonia Refrigeration Systems on the same property. The first building was dedicated to a 70,000 square foot Freezer. The second building was utilized for Cooler space and a small Process Area inside the 260,000 square foot Cooler.
This Distribution Center was completed near the close of 2015 and now services the Southeastern United States region, employing 450 workers and 100 delivery drivers.

This project was successfully completed in 2015.
A very special Happy 10th Anniversary
with JAX Refrigeration to John Osborn!
John began with JAX Refrigeration in February of 2011. As a Lead Superintendent for our Refrigeration department, John is one of our most valued employees. He provides quality work in a safe and efficient manner. As a testament to his peers’ appreciation and respect, read what those who work closest with him have to say:

“John has been a great superintendent for JAX. He has always been willing to do whatever it takes (and more!) than he is asked. Even though he has extensive knowledge and experience, he continually asks questions to make sure there is no rework needed and tasks are done to perfection. He is truly a pleasure to have on our staff. He puts his family at the top of his list, and that makes us proud. "

John truly lives our core values!!
A picture of him should be posted by them!

Happy 10th Anniversary, and thank you for all you do for JAX!” — Mark Lowery

“I haven’t known John long, but I can say his reputation says it all. He really is a pleasure to work with, and I all look forward to many more great projects with John.” — Grant Sherman

“7 years ago John, Kenny Bennett, Cliff and I were headed to a Harris Teeter shut down at midnight, jamming out to KC & JOJO’s, 'All My Life'. Big John, the country boy, jamming out to KC and JOJO - LOL! Another time, we were having breakfast at McDonald’s, and John got egg stuck in his eye from a Sausage & Egg McMuffin. Not sure how you do that but he should have been wearing his PPE!
TRUE Stories!” — Doug Johnson
JAX Refrigeration IN-HOUSE mobile COVID
Testing for Employees
JAX is constantly working to enhance the safety and well-being of our valued employees. On Monday, January 14, 2021, JAX held a team mobile COVID testing at our HQ Main Office building. We had a strong turnout and appreciate the healthcare professionals for their efforts and professionalism.
This month, we're taking our Grapevine section of the newsletter on a behind-the-scenes tour.

We have officially moved into our new headquarters complex. The 19,000 sf space brings our entire Jacksonville, Florida based team together under one roof (technically two, but they share the same parking lot). We are proud of our unique and stylish new HOME and appreciate the continued patience, efforts and commitment from our JAX Team throughout the construction and moving process.
We look forward to settling in and making new memories in our new HQ as we begin the next chapter in the JAX Refrigeration, Inc. success story!

JAX Mechanical is currently working on several Projects. The Project pictured above is a church that features high ceilings. All ductwork was required to be within the structure, and the ceiling is within inches of the bottom of the steel.

Another Project underway required in-wall plumbing. The photos below show the DWV (drain, waste and vent) for chase walls, along with hot / cold water piping. Water Closet (toilets) carriers were installed before chase walls were built for easy access.

Our JAX Mechanical Service Department fields the following
common questions on a daily basis:
How long should a cooling system last?
Life expectancy depends on the amount of cooling run time and how often the system receives preventative maintenance. In some parts of the country, the average residential cooling system’s run time is as much as 2,500 hours per year. Thus, after around 30,000 hours of cooling run time (12 years), your AC system will start to wear out, and you might consider replacement versus repair(s).
Proper (and consistent) preventative maintenance extends the life of an AC system.

Indoor air quality and system operation?
An out-of-warranty system that requires frequent repairs may be more than an expensive nuisance — it could also be unhealthy, even unsafe in some instances. Old dirty indoor coils, dirty burners, and cracked heat exchangers (if you have gas heat) will definitely affect the quality of the air you breathe and will affect proper system operation.

If you think it may be time to replace your system, make an appointment for a system check-up before hot weather comes knocking. By evaluating the current condition of your equipment, we can help make your decision easy. Call JAX Mechanical @ 904-435-9010.

JAX Mechanical Service would like to welcome aboard the following new clients:

Safety is one of JAX Refrigeration’s Core Values. Here at JAXCool, we take this one very seriously. JAXCool finished the 2020 year with working over 80,000 man-hours WITHOUT a recordable incident. This is quite an accomplishment, and helped JAXRefrigeration record an EMR of .70 for the 2021 year. We would like to congratulate all of the JAXCool employees for this remarkable achievement.
Speaking of Safety, we would like to share a comment from one of our General Contractor’s Safety Director, referring to one of JAXCool’s employee’s effort towards Safety:
Megan Poff, IMP Installer
“I just wanted to give you some information on Megan Poff, here on the Mars Hero Project in Hackettstown NJ. This morning on 01.21.21, while doing safety auditing with Mars representatives, we observed Megan doing her safety toolbox talk with the JAX crew. She was extremely knowledgeable, informative, and well versed in all aspects of the job. Her leadership and commitment observed were exceptional. She is a great representation of the JAX company. In any capacity that you need safety representation, she would be a great asset.”

~Safety Director - General Contractor
