JAX Cares...a lot!
Since 2015, over
has been granted to more
than 50 charitable organizations to help
them provide direct services and resources to our communities.
JAXCares Foundation Director: Kimberly Ward
Kimberly grew up in California, married her childhood sweetheart before moving to Arizona and graduating from Arizona State University with a degree in Communications. During college, she began volunteering at Arizona-Cactus Pine Girl Scout Council. Over the next 12 years, her Girl Scout career took her from a volunteer to Executive Director of a Council in Southern Oregon. Kimberly and her family moved to Florida in 2012 to be closer to family. “I am grateful for the opportunity to help JAXCares support charitable organizations to make a greater impact in our community.”
JAXCares Foundation was established in February 2015. Having a heart committed to giving back, JAX Refrigeration CEO/President, Mark Lowery began JAXCares by selecting several local charities to support. Since 2015, JAXCares Foundation has supported numerous worthy causes and organizations, both nationally and locally. Through JAXCares, the company steps out of its usual work mode to give back to the community. JAXCares is involved in many different projects across North Florida and Georgia. “Partnering with other organizations such as Dreams Come True and First Coast Blessings in a Backpack is fulfilling our mission: to provide the necessary resources to organizations that support those facing life’s challenges in our community” states JAXCares Foundation Director, Kimberly Ward.

WOW! It's amazing isn't it? Since 2015, over $400,000 has been granted to more than 50 charitable organizations to help them provide direct services and resources to our communities. These past six months JAXCares has partnered with several organizations to inspire hope in children, provide food bags every Friday so children have food to eat on the weekend, and helped our communities become healthier, stronger and educationally enriched. As we move into the second half of the year, JAXCares’ leadership and employee focus will stay the course with a shared commitment to our philanthropic philosophy and volunteering at numerous charities and JAXCares events.
The Future of JAXCares Foundation is strong. The 6-person Board of Directors is committed to the goal of providing necessary resources to organizations that support those facing life’s challenges in our community.
Welcome to the family, Morgen Bowman
Hard work & dedication gained attention
Morgen Bowman, Service Technician
As of 2017, women made up nearly 47 percent of the U.S. labor force. In HVACR, however, that number is significantly lower. Of the 448,000 Americans employed in 2017 as heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers, just 2 percent of those were women, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In April, JAX Mechanical Service welcomed a unique employee to the fold: a female technician, Morgen Bowman.
In a predominantly male dominated industry, Morgen began as an apprentice but is now a skilled preventive maintenance technician. She interacts with our customers by changing filters, completing inspection check lists, providing thorough maintenance inspections and identifying any mechanical issues that may cause mechanical failures leading to customer down time.

Mark Rassano, Mechanical Service Manager, made the decision to hire Morgen based on her history of hard work and willingness to accept a challenge. She was looking to transition into a field that she could grow with. Rassano first observed Morgan when she was working as an auto detailer. "I watched her for a couple of days, and while she was on 8-hour shifts she never even stopped for a break. Her determination inspired me to strike up a conversation with her about her work ethic. She made a comment about how she felt she could do so much more with the right opportunity. I offered her a job on the spot." She has since showed professionalism, skill and diligence in her new position.

JAX recognizes a growing trend and the vast recruitment opportunities afforded by searching for more female candidates in the future. Thanks for paving the way Morgen!

"Although being with us for
just a short time she has excelled in every challenge presented to her. She has a great future here with
the JAX Family."

- Mark Rassano, Mechanical Service Manager
The JAX Family is proud to announce that Mark Lowery, President of JAX Refrigeration, was selected as one of the Florida finalists for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® 2019 award. Congratulations Mark!
JAX Refrigeration once again named one of Northeast Florida's fastest growing companies!
This month, JAX Refrigeration was added to the Jacksonville Business Journal's list of fastest growing companies in Northeast Florida for the sixth year in a row! For more than 25 years, the JBJ has identified the fastest growing companies on the First Coast.

This list has tracked companies that boomed during the good times, that grew even when the economy shrank, that stand as an example of what ingenuity, hard work and creativity can lead to.

Logistics, finance, health care, technology, law and more — all of the major industries in the Jacksonville area are represented on this year's list.
You've probably already heard about how much we believe in our JAX Family, in the quality of our people, their values and hard work that help make our company great. But you don't have to take our word for it, check in here for the latest on what people are saying about Frank Everhart and Mike Brim, in our RHVACS Department.

Thank you Frank and Mike!

You guys have been great to know and work with. I appreciate all your technical knowledge and constant communications!

The quality of workmanship from the field is outstanding.
Also extremely grateful for completing the test and balance for us this week! it is no longer hot in random areas.

Leigh Ann Austin
Licensing & Compliance Coordinator
Hire Date: 3/19/2018

Leigh Ann joined the JAX Family by way of a referral from Catherine Price. She loves living in Jacksonville and truly considers it home, but visiting the Caribbean would be her ideal vacation.
When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her grandson and playing trivia. Christmas is her favorite holiday. She loves her work at JAX, but if she had to make a career change she’d be a chef. She roots for the Gators, loves the movie, “Sweet Home Alabama” and dreams of driving a shiny new BMW.
If she could have dinner with anyone dead or alive she’d choose her father.
JAX Safety Talk
Defensive Driving
In all cases, while operating a motor vehicle, drivers should practice defensive driving techniques. Defensive driving is the art of driving so as to prevent and avoid traffic crashes, regardless of the unsafe conditions and actions created by other drivers and adverse road and or weather conditions.

A good defensive driver will practice the following eight techniques:
  • Glance well ahead in the direction of travel. Look 2 or 3 vehicles ahead to observe driving conditions in front of you. This allows you to consider a condition before you reach it.
  • Get the “big picture”; learn to see the entire roadway. Sweep the scene, side to side, front to back. Avoid “tunnel vision”. Keep your eyes moving; Position vehicle slightly offset to traffic to increase your field of vision.
  • Always allow an escape route, leave a cushion by slowing or moving ahead of the vehicles beside you.
  • Keep your vehicle visible and signal your intentions early.
  • When stopped prior to making left turns across incoming traffic leave wheels straight to prevent being pushed into oncoming traffic in the event of a rear-end crash.
  • When entering intersections practice looking left/right/left. Be sure to come to a full stop before proceeding.
  • Learn to compensate for hazards such as weather, debris, potholes, loose gravel, or sand.
  • ALWAYS maintain a cautious driving attitude.
