Cool Virtual Stuff Happening in Portland

I've been so impressed by the level of human perseverance we've seen over the past weeks. Folks coming together and supporting small businesses, looking out for their neighbors and finding new ways to connect. It's humbling and inspiring and quite beautiful.

Many of our friends, vendors and fellow small business owners have been hustling to bring their businesses online, and it's been so fun to see their creativity and resilience. It's also great to remember that we can achieve learning, networking and fulfillment without driving across town!

To support these creative entrepreneurs, we thought we'd showcase some upcoming events here. From webinars on virtual services to a movie night supporting Oregon, we've got a fun list put together for you. You can read that below.

One more thing! Mother's Day is just around the corner. We love moms just as much as you do, so let's celebrate them right! Our  organizing gift certificates
are  a great way to support small businesses during this crisis, and will make your mom so happy, she may come over and start labeling your spice jars.

Gift certificates can be used virtually right away, or in-person in the very near future (we hope!). Curious about how Virtual Organizing works or how we can help you or a mother in your life? Give us a call and we'd be happy to walk you through our process.

Sending you and your families much love,

Missy and the team

We love Portland! Though it's been tough not seeing one another physically, these virtual events for businesses and families help us feel more connected as we do our part to shelter in place.

Spring Cleaning Tips from Professional Organizers and Service Professionals

Spring cleaning season is here! Regardless of whether spring cleaning is something you typically do, we recommend adding it to your life this year. More time at home due to the COVID-19 lockdown means that we are exposed to the dust and allergens that collect in our homes for much longer periods of time each day. It's so important for your physical and mental health to open up the house, declutter, air it out and clean.

Furthermore, while gyms are closed and social isolation is still happening, we need to get our workouts in. Did you know that cleaning and organizing also counts as cardio? Doing physical activity clears your head and produces dopamine, the "feel good" chemical in the brain.  The following cleaning activities count as cardio:
  • Mopping floors can burn 170 cals per hour
  • Sweeping burns up to 156 cals per hour
  • Cleaning surfaces can burn up to 136 cals per hour
  • Vacuuming for an hour burns 170 cals
  • Carrying the shopping up the stairs can burn up to 440an hour
  • Ironing burns up to 80 cals an hour
  • Dusting for an hour burns 166 calories
  • Washing the car burns 314 calories an hour
  • Cleaning windows for an hour burns 231 calories
We were recently given the opportunity to contribute to a  great Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks List from Redfin! You can check out our response, plus view some of our favorites over on the blog!
