November         Cooper Stallion Star                   Volume 3

     STALLION STAR

A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPALS

Cooper Families,

Can you believe that we have already been in school for 2 months? Cooper Elementary Scholars are continuing to do an amazing job practicing being Self-Managers as they learn and grow!

This week we celebrated a Stellar Stallion from each class who best represented October’s Self-manager trait of Responsibility. Take a look at our Instagram and Facebook to see these amazing students! In November, Cooper students are learning about Gratitude. Talk with your student about ways they can practice gratitude at home.

Next Thursday (November 10th), Cooper Elementary will be showing their gratitude to veterans in our community in a Veterans Day Assembly put on by our 5th graders in Mr. Casteal’s class. Veterans from our community are welcome to join us for the morning assembly at 9:30 AM in the Multi-Purpose Room, followed by coffee and doughnuts!

Thank you to all the families, staff, students and PTO members that have been able to attend and support our different activities! Last week Cooper students and families took part in our Learning is Fun Harvest Party. On Saturday, November 5, Cooper students and families can enjoy a Spokane Chiefs game! See the PTO Corner for pricing information. On November 17, parents and families will be able give Principal Stone feedback about our School Improvement Plan. We truly appreciate the support and participation of our families in our Minnehaha community!

With gratitude,

Katie Stone, Principal

Staci Worth, Principal Assistant

Parent/Principal Feedback Night

Join us on November 17, from 5:30-6:30 PM, in the library for a Parent/Principal Feedback night. Families and students will participate in a feedback session to help connect families to the purpose of Cooper Elementary School. Principal Stone will explain Title and the School Improvement Plan (SIP) to families and answer questions. Our SIP focuses on removing barriers, creating a culture of belonging and promoting partnerships with our family stakeholders in the Minnehaha community. Food and childcare will be provided. Please click on the link below to RSVP!

The November Self-manager character trait is Gratitude!

Part of being a Cooper self-manager means learning to show gratitude. Gratitude is being thankful. Students can show gratitude by showing appreciation for kindness and returning kindness to others.

Mondays are LATE START!

Breakfast begins at 8:50 AM.

Outside supervision begins at 9:10 AM.

Please do not drop off students before these times as there is no supervision.

Thank you!

Counselor Corner- A Note from Mrs. Hansen

Holiday Help: If there is a need for your family, reach out to Sarah Hansen, School Counselor, 509-354-2497.

Appointments:  PARENTS: if your student has a morning or an afternoon appointment, please either bring back to school after or bring before their appointment. Missed school is valuable time in the classroom and it all adds up. We want everyone to be setup for success in everything they do 😊

What does our School Counselor do?  I thoroughly enjoy working with students in all levels of support, whether it be individual counseling, small group counseling, classroom guidance, as well as collaboration with staff and families. Being a school counselor allows me to work with all students, across all grade levels, throughout the year. My goal is to ensure all students feel safe, make healthy decisions, and have the skills to navigate independent problem solving. I see my role as building positive relationships with kids and being an advocate for them, and this position allows me to do that. My door is always open, and I look forward to strengthening the bond with our Cooper families. Feel free to reach out!
