March 2023       Cooper Stallion Star                   Volume 7

     STALLION STAR

A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPALS

Greetings Cooper Families,

March is underway and, just like our weather, has been full of surprises!

Last week we celebrated Read Across America with a Reader's Theater put on by Dr. Casteal's 5th grade class. This week we celebrated our February Self-Managers who practiced honesty and learned about March's Self-Manager character trait, cooperation. Students are already showing how they cooperate in class and on the playground. If you get the chance, check out the giant snowballs and snowmen that students work together to make!

Please join us on March 23rd, from 5:30-7:30 pm, for our Cooper Cultural Night. The Cooper Multi-Cultural Club and Cooper PTO have been working hard to put together a great night of learning and celebrating different cultures in our community. More information will be sent coming home with your student next week. You can also RSVP by clicking on the following link: Cooper Cultural Night

Thanks for being a part of our Cooper team!

Staci Worth, Principal Assistant

The March Self-manager character trait is Cooperation!

Cooper Stallions will be practicing Cooperation in March. Ask your student how the village in the book Stone Soup worked together. Students were challenged to find ways to cooperate in their classroom and school- how is your student meeting this challenge?

March is National Reading Month

Literacy gives people access to that information. Literacy plays a significant role in reducing gender, race, nationality, and religious inequality that favors one group over another in access to education, property, employment, health care, legal, and civic participation.

Reading Statistics

  • Out of people making an average yearly income of $75,000, 86% of them read one or more books every 12 months.
  • 70% of people making less than $30,000 a year admitted to reading one book a year, at the least.
  • Reading often makes you kinder

Studies have shown that people who read more fictional books

are more likely to be kinder to others than people who don’t.

  • Reading fast helps your eyes

Reading a book fast will help to strengthen your vision.

  • It reduces stress

A good book can be a great stress reliever if you allow yourself to

get lost in the book.

  • It improves your vocabulary

Reading good books often will help to improve your vocabulary

as you would be coming across new words.

  • Your creativity is increased

Consistent reading will help to increase your imagination, which

will stimulate your brain to develop new ideas and make you more creative.
