Greetings community school coordinators! As the school year comes to a close we hope you all had a successful one and are preparing for an excellent summer. We also hope that that you enjoyed the CS Twitter chats and found the information useful.

Please join us for our May Twitter Chat on tomorrow, May 17th at 7:30 PM EST on family engagement. Don't forget to use #CSchats.

Congratulations to our 2017 Award winners! Take a look at our initiative and school awardees and learn how schools, families, and communities, along with district and city leadership, are partnering so students learn and thrive!

Lauren Markham is the  Community School Manager at Award winning Oakland International High School (OIHS). Hear how Lauren and the team at OIHS welcomes and supports immigrant youth and families and empowers youth voice in this month's Coordinator Spotlight.

Wins for Education but Work Still Needs to be Done

Thanks to your advocacy efforts, we have a decent education budget for the rest of FY 2017 (see key wins in budget). But, we still need your help! If you can't be in DC on June 6 for Advocacy Day, advocate at home to ensure all students learn and thrive. No one understands how community schools work better than coordinators! See our Advocacy Toolkit for ideas on how to use your voice.
