Dear Travel Agency partner,
As port of our overall distribution strategy and the rollout of our Copa Connect Distribution Platform, we are providing you with an update on our Distribution Cost Recovery Surcharge implementation. Starting 1 September 2022, bookings made via traditional GDS distribution will be subject to a distribution cost recovery surcharge of USD $12.00 per direction booked. For example, $12.00 will be charged for a one-way itinerary LIM-PTY-JFK and $24.00 will be charged for a round- trip LIM-PTY-JFK-PTY-LIM itinerary. The Distribution Cost Recovery Surcharge will be filed as a YQ, and will apply to all fares, fare types, and booking classes in all markets subject to local regulations in each country. Bookings made through our new Copa Connect channels will not be subject to the Distribution Cost Recovery Surcharge.
We appreciate your partnership and efforts to prepare for this change, especially those who have already connected to our Copa Connect platform. As a reminder, agencies can access Copa Connect content via (1) Copa Connect Web Portal, (2) Copa Connect Direct API and (3) approved Copa Connect Tech Partners. Travel agencies who choose not to participate in Copa Connect will still have access to Copa Airlines content via traditional GDS distribution, but the content may be more limited, bookings will also be subject to the USD $12.00 per direction cost-recovery surcharge and for these customers, ancillary fees may be higher. However, as of 1 September 2022, Copa content will no longer be available through the Travelport GDS (including Galileo, Apollo and Worldspan). We are working to minimize disruptions for our affected agency partners and our customers.
