Grange Events


Friday, Dec. 1, 7-9pm - Open Mic Night. Live open mic is on and its great! The first Friday of every month. Come on down to the Grange and join us with your instruments, songs, poems, stories, skits, etc. Or just come to relax, have fun and be inspired. We have a piano. Saturday, Dec. 2, 3-5pm - Open House. Come celebrate the holidays and share good cheer with friends and neighbors. Enjoy hot cider, treats, crafts, live music and more! In keeping with the holiday spirit, we encourage you to bring a donation for the Roe Jan Food Pantry or the Taconic Hills School emergency fund. You can find a list of suggested donation items here. This event is Free.

CORRECTED DATE: Saturday, Dec. 9, 7-9pm - Roe Jan Bluegrass Band. Come hear this renowned local band of talented musicians led by Jamie Purinton. Traditional tunes for listening or dancing will put you in a happy mood! Tickets at the door. Adults $15 or pay what you can, children 12 and under $5.

Two Free Holiday Events at the Historical Society


Winter Walk in Copake Falls - Sunday, December 3, 12:00 to 4:00pm

Fun for the whole family! Enjoy a visit with Santa Claus, a seasonal exhibition, cookies & hot cider. Wreaths, books, and holiday cards will also be on sale.


A Special Book Talk - Wednesday, December 6, 5:30pm. 

Celebrate the 200th anniversary of “A Visit from St. Nicholas” (better known as ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas), with an illustrated presentation by Pamela McColl, author of the acclaimed book; ’Twas the Night: The Art and History of the Classic Christmas Poem. Following the talk, McColl will sell and sign her book and refreshments will be served.


Both events will take place at the Roeliff Jansen Historical Society,

Whether you are a power user of the Roeliff Jansen Community Library, or never use it, the library wants your input and opinions.


The library is distributing a survey designed to gather information that will be used to guide decisions on library collections, programs, services, hours, communication, and more.

You can complete the survey online: Roe Jan Library Survey, or pick up a hard copy at the library, the Friends Book Shop or at the Hillsdale, Copake, or Ancram Town Halls.

If you wish to submit an article or notice regarding a community event taking place in the Town of Copake to the Copake Connection, please e-mail: thecopakeconnection@gmail.com. All submissions should be received by us by noon on the 10th of the month.
