Good evening

I hope this email finds you well as we await some warmer weather.

As it gets warmer, people will want to spend more time outside, but it’s still imperative to keep a safe distance (and cover your face). One of the ways to enable that is by opening up streets for pedestrians. But, of course, how this is determined, and what streets are opened, is an important and difficult question. It’s a new process and as such is a work in progress, but as we’ve said before , our voices should and still could be made a part of it and hope it is going forward.

The community board has not taken specific policy positions, but I have forwarded questions and comments for clarification. The most common questions that I’ve received boil down to “ Can I move/park my car? Will I still receive deliveries? Can Emergency Vehicles get on the block?”. The answer to that is a resounding “Yes”. I spoke to Commissioner Bray again today and he made clear that residents on these blocks can use their cars to come and go, park, receive deliveries and would be accessible to a fire truck, ambulance or any other emergency vehicle. Also, while Alternate Side Parking regulations return next week they will NOT be returning on the designated open streets.

If you have any questions, concerns, or comments let DOT know and I will continue to share your comments as well.

Just like other weekdays there are some interesting items and information below my email signature and I’ll once again say, if you are able to afford ordering from a restaurant, legislation not withstanding , order directly from them. 20% matters.

No matter what you do, stay safe, and enjoy the rest of your Thursday.
