COME SING WITH US!
Are You A Choral S
inger?
Why Join the Choir?
It's good for your health
Studies have shown how
choir can improve your health - it's fantastic brain food. Brain game exercises are all over the place with the Nintedo 3DS or sudoku. Well why not start keeping your mind healthy by making music?
Here are a few things you'll see improve with choir
- Multi-tasking - you've got to watch the conductor, keep an eye on the music and know when to come in
- Memory - you've got to sing by heart sometimes
- Focus - concentrating for an hour on a performance
- Math - Yes, you've got to count!

Gospel for the Seventh Sunday After Pentecost
Luke 11:1-13
He was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, 'Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.' He said to them, 'When you pray, say:
Father, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us.
And do not bring us to the time of trial.'
And he said to them, 'Suppose one of you has a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say to him, "Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; for a friend of mine has arrived, and I have nothing to set before him." And he answers from within, "Do not bother me; the door has already been locked, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything." I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, at least because of his persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs.
'So I say to you, Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for a fish, will give a snake instead of a fish? Or if the child asks for an egg, will give a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!'

GIDEON'S GARDEN UPDATE
There is no question, summer is in FULL swing!
For the past three weeks, we have been regularly harvesting and donating cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, kale, basil, Swiss chard, and lettuce.
(Our Swiss Chard plants are VERY happy...)
But this week, some new arrivals showed up, including green beans and jalapeno peppers!
And here is a sneak peak of what's to come...
This week, the boys found an old horse carriage and had fun walking around with it.
Old farm treats!
|
Birds! Birds! Birds!
The chickens continue to be a favorite with the youth...
(The chickens now play a game called "tomato ball". Throw in a tomato and watch the chickens play a vigorous game of football with it.)
(This chicken took an interest in the camera. We ended up with some interesting looking birds...)
We had another bird friend this week...a sparrow had somehow gotten into our butterfly house! Thank goodness we had Juan Diego, our skilled bird capturer, to rescue the butterflies from the invader.
We were happy to release the sparrow back to freedom!

"CHANGE THE BABIES"
Please put your loose change in the jar that will be at the Welcome Table.
This money that is insignificant in our day-to- day life is life-giving for these babies and those who care for them.
It costs about $1500 a year to support a baby and the Diocese's goal is for one congregation to support one child for those years.
Everything you give will go to support babies at the Mampong Babies Home in Ghana.
