Quarterly Issue 2

April 2025

“How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity.”

- Psalm 133:1

MISSION & VISION

Cor Mission:

To help focus Catholic men on Jesus by building Christ-centered brotherhood through a flexible framework of prayer, formation and fraternity.

Cor Vision:

To aid in transforming the hearts of men through Christ-centered brotherhood. Rooted in prayer, formation and fraternity, men will be sharpened in faith and virtue as they cultivate authentic friendships with Christ and each other. We envision a future where Cor continuously helps sustain these men to lead their families, strengthen their parish communities and courageously evangelize the world as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ.

EVANGELIZATION & FAITH FORMATION (EFF) DIRECTOR MESSAGE

As we prepare to celebrate Easter, let us reflect on its eternal impact. The resurrection of the Lord signifies victory over death, and we too are called to partake in this victorious mission - leading souls to Christ. May this holy season inspire you to continue your work with renewed zeal, trusting that God’s grace will multiply the fruit of your labor. We are sincerely grateful for your leadership and dedication to the Order through the mission of Cor

SUCCESS STEPS

The new fraternal year is quickly approaching. Here are a few key steps to plan ahead:

1. Assess Resources and Training Needs

2. Build Your EFF Team

You don’t have to lead alone. Prayerfully consider which men in your parish (including those who aren’t Knights) would be a good fit to help grow and lead Cor. Don’t hesitate to reach out to them—you never know until you ask!

Keep your pastor in the loop about Cor. He may even have great recommendations for your leadership team. Here are a few tips to strengthen collaboration with your pastor.

3. Determine a Summer Plan

Summer schedules can present challenges for maintaining regular gatherings. Will you move to twice a month or monthly over the summer? Perhaps focus more on fraternity building activities (e.g., a cookout, hike, baseball game).

Summer is also a great time to reinvite all men of your parish to participate in Cor. Here are some suggestions for a Pulpit Script or a Bulletin Announcement

COR ELEMENTS CORNER

As a reminder, Cor is designed to be flexible. It is important to offer all 3 elements during each Cor gathering but how that is done, in what order and for what duration, is up to what is best for your group. Below are suggested offerings for each element.

Prayer: Lifting minds & hearts to God

A great way to begin prayer is to ask your group for prayer intentions.

Formation: Becoming like Christ

Remember to allow for good conversation time to discuss the formation content and apply it.

Fraternity: Christ-centered brotherhood

Here are some intentional conversation starters for your group. The goal is to get to know our brothers on a deeper level.

  • April Idea: What is your favorite Easter tradition or food?
  • May Idea: May is the month dedicated to our Blessed Mother. How do you honor Mary, Mother of God, within your family?
  • June Idea: How do you maintain your prayer life during summer?

MISSIONARY MINDSET TIPS

Prayer is the essential first step in developing a missionary mindset. We cannot give what we do not have. By deepening our relationship with Jesus through prayer—daily prayer, attending Mass, praying with Scripture, spending time in Adoration—we open ourselves to receive the grace we need to live out our mission. Prayer deepens our relationship with God, rekindles the flame of our baptism, and equips us to share the Gospel with joy and conviction.

Jesus modeled the importance of prayer in mission, often withdrawing to pray and teaching His disciples to do the same. Within Cor, how are we helping men grow in their prayer lives? Are we dedicating sufficient time to prayer at each gathering? Are we sharing new ways to pray (e.g. Lectio Divina)? Especially during Lent, let’s guide others to embrace prayer more fully, reminding them that as our prayer life grows, so too does our ability to lead others closer to Christ.
