Cor is meant to transform us, by drawing us closer to

Christ and to each other.”

- Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly

MISSION & VISION

COR MISSION:

To help focus Catholic men on Jesus by building Christ-centered brotherhood through a simple, flexible framework of prayer, formation and fraternity.

COR VISION:

To aid in transforming the hearts of men through Christ-centered brotherhood. Rooted in prayer, formation and fraternity, men will be sharpened in faith and virtue as they cultivate authentic friendships with Christ and each other. We envision a future where Cor continuously helps sustain these men to lead their families, strengthen their parish communities and courageously evangelize the world as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ.

EVANGELIZATION & FAITH FORMATION (EFF) DIRECTOR MESSAGE

Thank you for serving as your council’s EFF Director. Your role is critical to the success of Cor and fulfilling the core mission of our founder – bringing souls to Christ. Blessed Father McGivney had a “zeal for souls” and it is still the cornerstone of KofC and the heart of Cor. Your role is to offer Cor to the men at your parish, God will do the rest.

This quarterly newsletter is designed to provide you with practical tips and valuable resources to successfully implement and sustain Cor at your parish. We hope this newsletter will support your efforts and strengthen your ministry.

SUCCESS STEPS

The new year is the perfect opportunity to launch or re-energize Cor at your parish. Here are 3 easy planning steps.

....Launching Cor:

  1. Get your pastor’s buy in.
  2. Advertise your kick-off details to council and parish.
  3. Determine content and structure for first 1- 3 gatherings.

....Re-energizing Cor:

  1. Re-invite men at your parish to Cor.
  2. Determine what you want to go deeper on.
  3. Share your leadership by building a Cor team.

COR ELEMENTS CORNER

Cor is designed to be flexible. It is important to offer all 3 elements during each Cor gathering but how that is done, in what order and for what duration, is up to what is best for your group. Below are suggested offerings for each element.

Prayer: Lifting minds & hearts to God

A great way to begin prayer is to ask your group for prayer intentions.

Formation: Becoming like Christ

Remember to allow for good conversation time to discuss the formation content and apply it.

Fraternity: Christ-centered brotherhood

Here are some intentional conversation starters for your group. The goal is to get to know our brothers on a deeper level.

  • January Idea: What is your new year’s resolution? What is the longest you’ve kept a resolution?
  • February Idea: What is a hobby you would like to dedicate more time to?
  • March Idea: The 3 pillars of Lent are prayer, fasting and almsgiving – each intended to strengthen our relationship with God. What is ONE thing for each pillar you would like to focus on this Lent?

MISSIONARY MINDSET TIPS

Discipleship is being a follower of Jesus Christ, learning from Him and sharing His message. Cor is a perfect platform to grow in discipleship. Here is a helpful Discipleship Road Map to help understand the different stages.

We are each on a unique path in our faith journey. Our shared calling as disciples of Christ is to accompany one another, encouraging growth in faith, virtue and discipleship.
