Coral Gables Partners with Pan American Development Foundation to Promote STEM education

The City of Coral Gables signed an agreement last week with the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) to promote STEM education in the Americas. This new partnership advances Coral Gables' goal to become a hub for employment opportunities, gender inclusion, and innovation through education in science, technology, engineering and math. Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration - Only A Week Away

July 4 at Biltmore Hotel

Make your plans for next week's Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration just a week away on Wednesday, July 4 outside of the Biltmore Hotel, 1200 Anastasia Avenue. Grounds open at 5 p.m., concert at 7 p.m. and the best fireworks in town begin at 9 p.m. The City will offer free parking and continuous shuttle service throughout the evening to and from the Biltmore Hotel. Shuttle service begins at 5 p.m., with the last shuttle departing for the fireworks at 8:15 p.m. Read more...

Do Not Allow Your Gardeners to Illegally Dump Outside Yard Waste in Your Trash Pit 

Lawn maintenance, landscaping and tree trimming companies hired by Coral Gables residents are not allowed to dump yard waste from clients outside of Coral Gables for City pick up. This illegal dumping has dramatically increased the City's landscape collections in the past three years. Coral Gables residents are allowed one cubic yard of trash, including landscape waste, on a weekly basis. Collection in excess of one cubic yard will be at an additional charge to the property owner. Code Enforcement Officers will be issuing fines to all residents who violate this ordinance. Please help us ensure Coral Gables lives up to its City Beautiful tradition. Read the rules here...

The coolest pool in the United States, the Venetian Pool located at 2701 DeSoto Boulevard, is offering swimming classes for children and adults throughout the summer until August. Fairchild Gets $750K Grant from NASA for Food Facility

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden located in Coral Gables has received a grant from NASA to create the world's first makerspace in a botanic garden. It will be the first public facility dedicated to NASA's food production challenges and the first project to leverage community input in the development of plant-growing hardware. Read more...
Beware of Phone Scams

If you get a phone call from the IRS saying that you owe past taxes and if you do not pay you will be arrested, hang up the phone. This is a phone scam, and unfortunately not the only one. Other phone scams ask victims to donate to a charity by wiring money, or say that you've won a prize but you can't get it until you send money, or that your relative is being held captive until you send money. To prevent being a victim of a phone scam, do not send any money to people you don't know personally. And don't give out personal or financial information to unknown callers. Read more....
