Core Values in Action: Philanthropy
Our Staff Raised $4,500 for Handlebars for the Holidays and We Matched It!
In alignment with our corporate value of philanthropy, leadership at RUSH Construction challenged its staff to raise funds for ABC Space Coast Handlebars for the Holidays, an initiative created by the ABC Florida East Coast that provides bikes, helmets, and lock packages to needy children in our area. With the incentive of a matched corporate contribution, staff members got to work, and ended up collecting $4,500 for the cause! After matching the amount raised, RUSH Construction is incredibly proud to contribute $9,000 to Handlebars for the Holidays, which translates to 70+ bicycles for the kids in our community.
Congratulations to Jose Medina, RUSH Facilities’ Star Employee for the Month of November!
Jose Medina, a valuable member of the custodial and floor cleaning team, stepped up to fill a void on the maintenance side when he was needed. Jose is hardworking and always shows initiative. He has repeatedly demonstrated his willingness to be flexible, accept a challenge and pitch in wherever he is needed. We appreciate Jose’s great attitude! He makes RUSH Facilities a great place to work.
RUSH Marine Begins Work on Brevard County Space View Park
RUSH Construction is the General Contractor on the new Space View Park project in downtown Titusville along the waterfront and has contracted RUSH Marine as the subcontractor to perform the marine scope of work. The work includes the removal and replacement of the existing timber piers and pavilions, installation of a new steel sheet pile bulkhead with a concrete cap and helical tie backs, concrete sidewalks, retaining walls and pavers. This project is expected to be completed in March 2021.
Meet Our Staff: Matt Tate, Estimator & Senior Project Manager at RUSH Marine
Matthew Tate is an Estimator and Senior Project Manager at RUSH Marine since June 2020. With 18 years of experience in heavy civil and marine construction, he is responsible for developing cost estimates and managing on-going marine projects. Matthew has worked on projects across Florida in Orlando, Tampa, Key West, Downtown Jacksonville, Naval Station Mayport, Port Canaveral, and Pensacola Bay.

Matthew chose RUSH because of its positive reputation, great family culture, and history of successful projects. A particular RUSH project that Matthew was impressed by is the Canaveral Locks East West Guide Wall Repair Project for the USACE. “This marine project included pile driving and was very important to the area,” said Tate.

Tate grew up in the Orlando area, and he and his wife have a son and twin daughters. He’s a Florida Gator fan, and enjoys golf in his spare time.
