Novel Gets Brought to Life
“Because you, mouse, can tell a story. Stories are light. Light is precious in a world so dark. Begin at the beginning. Tell a story. Make some light.” - Kate DiCamillo, The Tale of Despereaux

Christ's Haven's Educational Coordinator, Amy Lester, recently celebrated the success of a couple of our elementary-age students finishing "The Tale of Despereaux." They've read the novel out loud together a chapter at a time for the last few months.

Soup represents a major theme of the book, so they went to Amy's house and prepared a corn chowder from scratch to enjoy while they watched the movie together.

We love the opportunity to bring a book to life, create fun memories, and "make some light!"
Christmas at Christ's Haven

Normalcy is one of our core values. That means that when a child lives at Christ’s Haven, we want to make sure they have typical childhood memories and experiences. What better way to let kids be kids and create special memories than during the holiday season.

Join along with your office, church, neighborhood, or family & friends to share some holiday cheer by blessing the youth living at Christ’s Haven. There are many ways you can help.

What is Relational Permanency and
Why Does It Matter?
By Cassie McQuitty
Christ’s Haven CEO

At Christ’s Haven, we care for the whole child. Our approach includes more than just food & shelter but also making sure a child’s physical, emotional, academic, and spiritual needs are met.

Part of that includes surrounding each child with a network of support both at Christ’s Haven and in our community. Relational permanency, rather than just legal permanency, is gaining traction in foster care after the results of a study of long-term outcomes for youth who transition out of the state foster care system.
