Community Newsletter - Autumn 2020
From the Desk of Julie
I am filled with pride when I think about this organization and the people who make it such a special place to work and receive care. Their passion and dedication made all the difference when we were suddenly faced with the reality of a pandemic.
One of our top priorities as a health care organization is to focus on emergency preparedness. In the event of an emergency, we still need to be there to care for our patients, and this pandemic certainly tested and proved our readiness to respond. Technology investments in recent years were instrumental in helping us shift to working remotely and staying connected to each other and our community. We didn't skip a beat and this team went above and beyond during a very stressful time.
As a mission driven, nonprofit organization, we care deeply about our work and well-being of our local communities. So much so, that we've grown tremendously over the past decade to be able to provide the best in home health services for you and your loved ones. Our growth and commitment to excellence has earned us recognition as the NH Health Care Business of the Decade. A significant accomplishment in our organization's 107 year history.
To our staff, volunteers, patients, donors, businesses, foundations and friends. Thank you for being a special part of Cornerstone VNA as we navigate through challenges and changes. As always, we are here for you through every season of your life!
Stay well,

Julie Reynolds, RN, MS, President/CEO

Welcome Dr. Kunkemueller - Palliative Care Medical Director
“The Palliative Care Medical Director is a new position within our growing Palliative Care Department,” explains Julie Reynolds, RN, MS, President/CEO of Cornerstone VNA. “We are so pleased to have a physician joining our Palliative Care team, especially Dr. Kunkemueller, who is returning to Cornerstone VNA and eager to help us expand this important program.”
Christine Dumont - Palliative Care Manager
We are delighted that Christine Dumont, NP, MSN, APRN, has assumed the role of Manager of the Palliative Care program.

“I was very happy to have joined Cornerstone VNA as a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner last year, and now I’m excited to have transitioned into a management position where I can oversee the continued growth and success of the Palliative Care program.”
About Palliative Care
Palliative Care is specialized medical care that addresses the pain and anxiety of a complex illness, especially for patients living with Congestive Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Cancer, or other chronic illnesses that can cause distressing symptoms.

Recognizing the importance of providing this specialized care for our patients, we launched our Palliative Care program in 2014. Thanks to the program's growth and success, our team now includes Palliative Care Medical Director, Dr. Andrew Kunkemueller, Nurse Practitioners, Christine Dumont, Kathy Boyd, and Hayley Bustos, Certified Palliative Care RNs, Mitch Maihiot and Allie Moriarty, and Office Support Nurse, Deb Doyon.

We have developed a strong reputation among our referral partners, who see the value of the program, and appreciate our team’s level of expertise and their collective efforts to provide high quality patient-centered care. We are looking forward to providing Palliative Care specialty inpatient consults at Frisbie Memorial Hospital and Portsmouth Regional Hospital starting this fall.
