In a surprise announcement at the 25th Annual Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business awards luncheon, the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce awarded the esteemed Marvin S. Gilman Bowl to Pamela W. Cornforth, president and chief executive officer of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Delaware. 


“Pam has been a dedicated volunteer and supporter of our mission for many years,” said Michael Quaranta, president of the State Chamber. “She has also been instrumental to the growth and success of our Superstars in Business awards program. This month we celebrate the Marvin S. Gilman Superstars in Business award winners. ... I’ve had the privilege of being personally involved with the Superstars in Business program, as an applicant as well as a member of the selection committee. When the Cover & Rossiter leadership team met to address the application questions, it was a humbling experience. Sure, we celebrated areas where the firm excelled, such as leadership development, expertise in niche industries, and adopting a future-ready mindset. However, the discussion also opened our eyes to areas that needed work, such as measuring client satisfaction. Read more >

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE


The latest jobs report was not very encouraging. Labor force participation fell, unemployment ticked up slightly, and some companies report making layoffs as we near the mid-point of the fourth quarter. ... The CNBC article also goes on to point out: "Other areas showed meager job growth and saw employment shrink. Mining and logging, utilities and retail trade combined to add just 2,500 jobs. Information shed 9,000 jobs, while transportation and warehousing lost more than 12,000 jobs.” Read more >
