NYS "STAY AT HOME" ORDER ANNOUNCED
On Friday, March 20, 2020 Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a state-wide "stay at home" executive order for all New York State residents.

Cuomo said the order meant non-essential gatherings of any size could not take place for New York’s 19 million residents. All non-essential businesses must close their businesses and 100 percent of their employees must work from home. When in public, people should stay at least six feet away from others.

PAID SICK LEAVE FOR COVID-19 IMPACTED NYers
On March 18, 2020, Governor Cuomo signed emergency legislation guaranteeing job protection and pay for New Yorkers who have been quarantined as a result of novel coronavirus, or COVID-19.

This groundbreaking new measure will help ensure that New Yorkers are able to care for their family without jeopardizing their economic security and builds on the Governor’s unprecedented actions to protect and uplift workers and their families.

NYS SALES TAX LATE PAYMENT FINES WAIVED
If you run a New York business that collects sales tax, you must file your quarterly return today March 20, 2020. But you won’t face penalties or interest if you don’t make the payment.
NYS "STAY AT HOME" ORDER ANNOUNCED
All counties within the State of New York have been added to the list of areas to qualify for the SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans.

Disaster Loan Assistance Available:
Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) - Working capital loans to help small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in acquaculture, and most private, non-profit organizations of all sizes meet their ordinary and necessary financial obligations that cannot be met as a direct result of the disaster. These loans are intended to assist through the disaster recovery period.

FEDERAL TAX FILING DEADLINE EXTENDED
It has been reported that President Trump has directed that federal Tax Day be moved to July 15, 2020 to allow tax payers more time to file in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

In the press release earlier today Gov. Andrew Cuomo stated that New York State will follow the federal guidelines regarding the tax filing deadline postponement.

At this time specific details and IRS guidance on the date change have not been made available. We will continue to update you as information is released.
