We understand that the last few weeks have been incredibly stressful. We want you to know that NOTO will continue to monitor this situation and work with tourism and Government colleagues to ensure the flow of information continues and that the impacts to tourism are known to both the Federal and Provincial Governments.
As you are no doubt aware, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the Canada and US border will be closed to all non-essential travel. This includes prohibiting travel from the US into Canada for recreation and tourism.
NOTO is currently looking into how this will impact US camp owners.
This announcement will no doubt have a significant impact on the tourism industry. This is why we need you, the operators, to share with us how all these rapid changes are impacting your business through weekly surveys.
We encourage continued active participation from all operators for these surveys and we hope that you continue to provide us with as much detail as possible as this situation continues to unfold.
This information will continue to help us, fellow tourism partners, and Government to stay updated on what you are all seeing on the ground and to help Government establish a proper support and recovery plan initiatives.
We have included several Government links in the email to more details on the Federal stimulus initiatives for businesses and workers. We will circulate more information as it becomes available.
There are two teleconference/webinar events this Thursday and Friday that are available to tourism businesses to participate in. We have included the information below and encourage you to participate.
Remember to keep us posted on any new developments and/or concerns, we will do what we can to help.
Take care and stay healthy,
The NOTO Office
