In response to coronavirus (COVID-19), we have been working around the clock to obtain useful information to keep you informed.

You can find below information and resources to keep you informed on COVID-19. Be sure to follow me on social media where I will provide additional updates as information becomes available.

DC Government will operate under an agency-specific telework schedule. Although some government operations will be performed remotely, other services will continue to be performed at public buildings, but under modified operations. 

Coronavirus (COVID-19 Symptoms)
If you develop warning signs for COVID-19, get medical attention immediately.

The following symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure. *
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

Emergency warning signs include:*
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion or inability to arouse
  • Bluish lips or face

*This list is not all inclusive. Please consult your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning.

WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA TRANSIT AUTHORITY UPDATES (WMATA/METRO)
Beginning Monday, March 16th, WMATA will operate on a Saturday Schedule. If you are feeling ill, please stay home.

METRORAIL

Monday-Friday: Trains will operate every 12 minutes on each line throughout the day. The rail system will maintain normal hours, opening at 5 a.m until 11:30 p.m Monday-Thursday and until 1 a.m. on Friday. 

Saturday: Trains will operate every 12 minutes on each line, with service from 7 a.m. until 1 a.m. (normal Saturday service). 

Sunday: Trains will operate every 15 minutes on each line, with service from 8 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. (normal Sunday service).
 
METROBUS

On weekdays, bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule. Weekend bus schedules are unchanged.

DC PUBLIC SCHOOLS & UDC
DC Public Schools (DCPS) buildings will closed to students beginning Monday, March 16th through Tuesday, March 31st. Next week, on March 16th, DCPS will be closed for students while teachers engage in professional development. DCPS will have Spring Break from March 17th through March 23rd. From March 24th to March 31st, DCPS will begin implementing distance learning. For the latest updates, please visit  https://dcps.dc.gov/coronavirus.

DCPS sponsored student travel outside of DC, including out-of-state and international field trips, is suspended until May 1st.

DC Public Charter Schools are being advised to follow the DCPS closure schedule. H owever, teacher professional development, remote learning preparation, and spring break plans may vary for each school.

All parents should seek updates directly from their charter school.

MEALS FOR STUDENTS
DC Government will provide meals each weekday at various meal sites. Meals are available for all DCPS and DC Public Charter School students every weekday from Monday, March 16th - Tuesday, March 31st from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the following sites listed below:

PUBLIC UTILITIES: WATER & ELECTRIC
Pepco is suspending service disconnections and waiving new late payment charges until May 1st and will work with customers on a case-by-case basis to establish payment arrangements as well as to identify energy assistance options. 

SENIOR COMMUNITY
Senior Wellness Centers under the jurisdiction of the DC Office on Aging and Community Living Centers and community dining sites are closed for activities beginning Monday, March 16th until Tuesday, March 31st. 

Boxed meals will be available for pick-up at each site between 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M.

Adult day health centers will remain open.
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS & RECREATION
Department of Parks and Recreation  will be closed starting Monday, March 16th through at least April 1st.

DC PUBLIC LIBRARY
All branches of the DC Public Library will close on Monday, March 16th, and will reopen on Wednesday, April 1st.
Please hold on to the books you have borrowed until our libraries reopen. The book drops at all Library locations will be locked as of Monday, March 16th. They are waiving all late fees during the closure, and all checked out items are now due on Monday, April 13th.
Don’t worry about the book you’ve placed on hold. They are extending the expiration date for all holds until Monday, April 13th. 
While Library locations are closed, DC Public Library will provide access to services, e-books, streaming movies, and other online resources, will share Library recommendations on social media, and will host virtual programs. DC COURTS
The DC Superior Court and the Court of Appeals have made modifications to their operations as well. Please see those updates here : https://www.dccourts.gov/coronavirus.
AVOID MASS GATHERINGS
The Department of Health has prohibited mass gatherings of 250 or more people. You can find the details by clicking on the link below .
