Opening of Dental Services and Increasing Access to Services

As California slowly continues its phased opening process, AltaMed is also evaluating and planning its structured opening. On Monday, June 1, dental services will open to patients, but with new processes designed to protect the safety of staff and patients. More information to follow. Congratulations to our entire team on their diligence and hard work to meet the many regulatory guidelines and develop new protocols and procedures to open the dental program.

In addition to the dental opening, we are currently increasing access for patients in our clinics to treat chronic illnesses, conduct screenings, and provide vaccinations. We will continue to provide telemedicine services and video visits.

Regarding our testing and evaluation centers, we will continue to provide these services to the community, but will be condensing the number of our sites.

We appreciate your continued support and patience as we work together to provide exceptional care to our community.
Heat Stroke Law for Working Outdoors

For employees working in outdoor environments, such as our evaluation and testing centers, AltaMed follows the California Heat Stroke Law. In California, companies with outdoor work environments are required to adopt heat stroke and heat illness prevention practices when temperatures are above 95 degrees.

These practices include providing a five-minute paid break to every employee for every hour of work. These five-minute breaks are considered paid “cool down periods” and can be used to hydrate and cool down in a shady area. Employees should continue to work with their respective Managers to plan for these breaks when the temperatures rise. For additional questions regarding this law, please contact your respective Human Resources Business Partner.
