Medicaid
Suspension of Renewals
: The state has suspended Medicaid renewals and post-eligibility verification processes. Many people lose coverage due to administrative reasons (not eligibility) when they are required to renew or when the state conducts a quarterly check on eligibility. Suspending these processes protects on-going Medicaid eligibility.
Other changes
: The state is asking the federal government to approve other measures that will protect access to Medicaid. Stay tuned.
Medicaid enrollment is available anytime.
Special Enrollment Period for HSRI coverage
There is a new Special Enrollment Period (SEP) available due to the Coronavirus through April 15th, 2020 to qualified individuals who are uninsured. Those completing an online application should indicate that they have experienced an “Other” SEP event and note COVID-19 or Coronavirus as the explanation. To complete the process, customers will need to choose a plan and pay for the first month of coverage. Coverage will begin on the first of the month following the application.
A SEP allows people who are not eligible for Medicaid because income exceeds the limit (or because they do not have a qualified immigration status – such as adults with green cards in status less than 5 years), and who missed the open enrollment period for HSRI coverage, to enroll now.
