CSD Families and Community,
According to information that we have received from the Alameda County of Education (ACOE),
“Alameda County is
declaring a local public health emergency
as part of its ongoing response and preparation for community spread in Alameda County. This allows Alameda County to be better poised to respond with additional resources as needed.”
A
t this time, the risk remains low at CSD. However, we are working closely with both the California Department of Education (CDE) and the state and county departments of public health as the situation evolves with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). There are currently no plans to preemptively close the school.
The health risk from novel coronavirus to the general public remains low, and while COVID-19 has a high transmission rate, it has a low mortality rate.
The number one recommendation from the state department of public health and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is proper and frequent hand-washing and/or the use of hand sanitizer.
Concern over this new virus can make children and families anxious. It is very important to remember that children look to adults for guidance on how to react to stressful events. We have attached a link to a parent resource provided by the National Association of School Psychologists titled, “

for schools from the California Department of Public Health. We ask that you remain respectful of all students and staff and refrain from speculation about who may or may not pose an increased risk.
