Athens State University is committed to preserving and maintaining the health and well-being of all members of its community, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors. While there are no confirmed cases of the coronavirus on campus or in the state of Alabama, the University continues to closely monitor the outbreak and is following guidelines released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) to ensure consistent and coordinated responses and actions.

At this time, the University continues to operate as normal. However, Administration is actively planning for a range of scenarios and potential short- and long-term impacts, with the main focus on the health and well-being of the University community as well as University operations.

Athens State will continue taking precautions to help maintain a healthy campus environment and encourages the local community to do the same. Information has been shared with students, faculty, and staff regarding preventative measures that can be taken to help protect themselves from the virus.
