In a precautionary effort to safeguard the Athens State University campus community, it has become necessary to take additional steps to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). In that effort, all on-campus and blended classes will transition to online instruction beginning after Spring Break, Monday, March 23.

We are not aware of any COVID-19 cases among our students, faculty, or staff at this time. However, we are moving classes online out of an abundance of caution. We also feel this will better allow our students to manage childcare needs associated with this situation.

As one of the first institutions in the state of Alabama to offer distance learning opportunities, Athens State is well-equipped to serve students electronically during this uncertain and rapidly-evolving time, and we are committed to the continuity of learning for all students.
Please see the following campus updates
related to the COVID-19 outbreak.

We continue to monitor the situation and will keep the campus community informed through regular email updates, the University website, and social media. Please feel free to contact the Athens State University Office of Marketing & Communications at for any additional questions you may have.
