Message from the President
Hello NATAS-Michigan members-

The COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic has caused unprecedented event cancellations across the country. The Board of Governors met this morning to discuss the 2020 Emmy® Gala and at this time, we have decided the Gala will proceed as scheduled on June 20. However, we will continue to monitor the situation and will make a decision in the coming weeks. If we need to make a change, the plan would be to MOVE the date and not cancel altogether.

The Student Production Awards (SPA) ceremony, set for April 26th at Mott Community College, will now move to an online stream instead of an in person event. Specific details will be announced in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you all for your patience. We are still on track to announce EMMY® nominations on May 20 and SPA Crystal Pillar Award nominations on March 26.

We also want to thank those of you out in the field producing daily content and keeping the public informed. What you are doing is extremely important. We know this will take a toll on you, your families and your newsrooms. Do your best to keep up the fight, stay healthy and don’t be afraid to seek professional help if you are experiencing anxiety, PTSD or other mental health issues.

For those who work in production who have lost work because of this, we cannot imagine the hardships this will create for you and your family. Do know that you are all in our thoughts at this time.

Thanks for your continued support of NATAS Michigan. We are all in this together, and together, we can help each other through this.

Regards,

Bob Gould
President, NATAS-Michigan.
