March 5, 2020

Dear Bishop Blanchet community,

We continue to monitor developments and guidelines from local, state and national agencies. King County Public Health released additional recommendations yesterday to reduce the risk of exposure to novel coronavirus and the illness COVID-19. The county continues to guide us that school should not be cancelled unless there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19. Bishop Blanchet does not  currently have any cases of COVID-19 and school remains open at this time. While we understand the concerns of the situation, we want to encourage all to not spread additional anxiety and fear on social media or in conversations.

In keeping with expert recommendations on reducing the risk of spreading illness, we will be canceling a number of events to avoid bringing large groups together. Our Leadership Team has carefully reviewed our calendar through spring break for risk assessment. The following events have been cancelled:

To that end,  we will be changing our schedule tomorrow, Friday, March 6 to a Gold Day Late Start to provide additional preparation for Distance Learning planning.  We will also continue to update our coronavirus website with important information.

If you have questions about cancelled events or our Digital Distance Learning Plan, please contact Principal Sam Procopio at If you have questions about our school safety plan, please contact Dean of Students Chris Bilanko at

Most importantly, if your student is sick, please keep them home and seek medical attention as needed. Absences will be excused. Teachers, coaches and staff will work with students to make up work without penalty.  Please report any absences to
