Please join us in congratulating two of our caregivers – John and Rebecca – who have been named among the Top 20 Exceptional Caregivers of the Year from hundreds of entries from Home Helpers offices across the country. Our office nominated several deserving caregivers – and Rebecca and John were selected by our Home Helpers national office. Rebecca wins a $50 gift card and Home Helpers t-shirt. John was also selected as one of the Top 5 Exceptional Caregivers of the Year and will be rewarded with a paid trip to our Home Helpers conference in San Antonio in May!

John was singled out for his tireless and dedicated support of a long-time client in Hinsdale. “John was so gentle and patient with my dad and knew exactly what my dad wanted and needed even when he could no longer ask,” commented one of the client’s daughters. “John was my father’s first caregiver and he and my father created a special language together to communicate. My father, along with my siblings and me, felt safe and comforted knowing John was my dad’s primary caregiver for 2 ½ years. He is one special person.”

Rebecca was nominated for her amazing and compassionate care of a couple in Elmhurst. Says Rebecca, “I love what I do. It gives me a lot of satisfaction to know I am doing a good job. The love you give will come back to you.”

Scheduler Paula Everett recently joined the Home Helpers team after many years in sales and customer service leadership positions. She has a strong passion for helping older adults and is a terrific addition to match caregivers with clients – and her positive attitude is infectious! Paula joins our Care Team led by Care Director Michelle Pantoja, CNA along with Scheduler Alicia Smith and Care Coordinator Rachel Kolinski.

We also have a new professional Trainer – Senior Consultant Rachelle Blough, CTRS, CADDCT, CDP. As the acronyms after her name suggest, she is one smart cookie. Rachelle is a Certified Recreational Therapist, Certified Dementia Practitioner and Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer with the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP). She oversees training for our caregivers focusing on dementia education and life enrichment. Rachelle is also available to consult directly with our Home Helpers caregivers and clients.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that was first detected during an investigation into an outbreak in China. 

What are the Symptoms of Coronavirus?

Symptoms of the COVID-19 can include: 

• Fever

• Cough

• Shortness of breath 

The symptoms may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure. Reported illnesses have ranged from people with little to no symptoms to people being severely ill and dying.
