Coronavirus Update, RE: Spring Break Travel Advisory
Dear Families,
At St. John’s, we work to ensure the health and well-being of our students and staff by developing, implementing, and delivering proactive policies.
As we face ongoing concerns about coronavirus (COVID-19), we continue to follow the lead of the
Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the
World Health Organization (WHO), and the
Florida Department of Health, as well as other local, state, and federal agencies to make sure we have the most up-to-date information available.
As spring break approaches, we recognize that a number of St. John’s families may have planned personal travel, including trips overseas. The coronavirus continues to prompt new travel restrictions and emergency declarations around the world, including the U.S. State Department’s latest advisory, warning American citizens, especially those with health issues, not to travel via cruise ship.
We strongly recommend our St. John’s families continue to monitor the relevant agencies for up-to-date information and give serious consideration to postponing any international trips, especially any to China, Iran, South Korea, or Japan. Please be aware that individuals who travel internationally are subject to federal and state health guidelines, including restrictions and/or quarantines upon return to the United States. Additionally, if you visit a region that is placed on CDC Level 3 warning, you may experience canceled flights and restricted travel by local authorities.
For all those traveling over the break, please consult the
CDC’s latest guidelines. We urge you to self-monitor for symptoms and self-quarantine for 14 days if symptoms appear. Please communicate immediately with the school if any family member exhibits symptoms, regardless of where you travel. As a reminder, symptoms of COVID-19 include a fever of 100 degrees or higher, coughing, and shortness of breath that can appear within two to 14 days after exposure, according to the CDC.
Please be assured that we are doing all that we can to prevent COVID-19 from entering our school. Your help in this is critically important. At this time we are not planning any changes to School operations or events; however, all three St. John’s campuses will undergo a deep cleaning during the spring break closure.
As always, we will continue to closely monitor the evolving status of COVID-19, provide you with timely and accurate updates, and continue to update our
Coronavirus (COVID-19) page. We are thankful for your patience and support as we navigate this situation, and hope you enjoy a fun and relaxing spring break.
