Bipartisan Group Releases Detailed Summary of COVID Proposal
|
|
In the final days of Congress’ lame duck session, a bipartisan group of lawmakers led by Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Mitt Romney (R-Utah) has released a detailed framework of a $908 billion coronavirus relief package. The bill contains several provisions that AHLA has fought for, including:
- $300 billion for a second round of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans for small businesses
- $160 billion for state and local governments
- $10 billion for COVID-19 testing and contact tracing and $2.5 billion for vaccine distribution
- An agreement in principle on liability for small businesses
The situation remains fluid. AHLA and the coalition we helped create, COVID Relief Now, are pushing Congress to pass the compromise as quickly as possible.
If Congress does not act before the lame duck session ends next week, thousands of American businesses will likely close, and with them millions of jobs will be lost for good.
Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement as we push for relief.
