February 27, 2020
Dear BWS Families,
As you are likely aware, on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) gave a press conference on the current status of the Coronavirus (COVID-19.)
The CDC emphasized that there is
not currently a Coronavirus pandemic in the United States
(a pandemic occurs when a disease is spreading from a variety of sources across a large region; the number of cases across the United States remains small.)
They did, however, emphasize the need for effective, proactive planning.
That is why we are reminding our whole community to follow best practices to stay healthy and minimize the spread of infectious disease. These include:
- Thorough, frequent hand washing with soap and water
- Do not touch eyes, nose or mouth before washing hands
- Coughing and sneezing into a tissue or covered area (then washing hands immediately after)
- Requesting all faculty, staff, and students who are ill to stay home until they recover
Should the need arise, our school is prepared to alter our procedures and planning in this area. As always, any changes we adopt will be guided by the World Health Organization, the CDC, and our local governmental organizations.
Because the situation with respect to the Coronavirus is so fluid, we encourage you to regularly review the
CDC Coronavirus Disease 2019 Situation Summary
website for the latest information.
Please continue to look for further communications from us on this evolving issue. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
