Dear Gilpin Hall Family,
As of this writing, no one currently in the facility has tested positive for COVID-19. We are very thankful, but know that this could change at any time. We are watching residents very closely and want to make you aware of several procedures related to quarantine and isolation of residents that have been implemented. First, all residents have been strongly encouraged to stay in their rooms and we are monitoring residents for symptoms of COVID-19. Should a resident present with any symptom of COVID-19, they are being tested and placed into isolation pending results. Secondly, any resident who has been hospitalized for non-COVID-19 reasons and is ready for discharge, we are thoroughly reviewing their hospital record to determine if their return is appropriate. If they are allowed to return, they are placed in quarantine for 14 days. Lastly, should we have positive results, a plan is in place to house these residents in a separate area of the building. Mandates and guidelines from Governor Carney, CDC and Delaware Public Health are still changing almost daily and we continue to revise our procedures to comply.
We continue to receive cloth masks and gowns from family and community members - THANK YOU!! And, again thanks to all for your kind and supportive emails and calls. It means a great deal as we work through this time. As a reminder, we are still not accepting any items that may be brought to our door. This includes food orders that may be placed by or on behalf of a resident. This is difficult for everyone, but important as we strive to maintain a safe environment. We are still making appointments to Skype with your loved one, so please make an appointment or direct any questions you may have by emailing us at
