N ews and information for St. Francis of Assisi School
March 10, 2020
March 10, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians of St. Francis of Assisi School,

On February 28, a notice was sent out to all of our families about Coronavirus Precautions.  In that message, I shared information on how St. Francis of Assisi School and families can partner together for the safety of our children.  We continue to closely assess any student that comes up to the office and reports that they do not feel well.  Any student that has a temperature registering above a normal 98.7 or who vomits at school will be sent home.   Parents can partner with us by keeping your student(s) home if they do not feel well.  We are happy to provide make-up work and support the health and safety of our students.

Update as of March 10, 2020
Today we received an update from the Department of Public Health .   We are in close communication with the Diocesan Office of Schools.  I will be attending a regional meeting of school principals this Thursday to discuss and review our emergency protocols/action plans should we determine that our schools need to close for a period of time.  This is a fluid situation and our focus has and will continue to be on the well-being and safety of all of our students.  I will continue to keep you updated as I receive new and updated information.

Auction Gala
For those attending the upcoming Auction Gala, please be aware that the health and safety of our guests is our priority.  Like many, we have been closely monitoring COVID-19 (coronavirus) and using facts from trusted sources such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to guide our actions.  CDPH does not recommend cancelation of community events at this time if no COVID-19 cases exist within the community.

The CDC has noted that older adults, as well as people who have serious, chronic medical conditions are at higher risk and should avoid crowds as much as possible.  We encourage you to apply personal discretion when determining your participation in the Gala.  As always, participation in this event is voluntary.

We will be implementing additional health practices onsite including the addition of several hand sanitizers. We will also request that our attendees greet friend's handshake-free, and that those experiencing cold or flu symptoms do not attend.

We kindly ask the following of all guests:
  •  Limit hand-shaking to a minimum
  • Leverage the hand sanitizers provided throughout the venue

If any of the criteria apply to you or your guest, please refrain from entering the Gala:

  • Within the past 14 days has returned from a CDC Level 3 Country - China, Iran, South Korea, Italy (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html)
  • Sick or is exhibiting cold or flu-like symptoms (ie: fever, runny nose, coughing, etc.)
  • Have concerns that you have been in direct contact with someone who is suspected to have COVID-19.
While it's critically important to remain vigilant and take useful precautions in times like these, it's equally important to make calm, rational, and fact-based decisions.

Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation.

Blessings,
Jeannette Lambert
