Dear Superintendents,

As you may have seen in the news, an Orange County resident who works in Chula Vista has received a presumptive positive test for COVID-19. Additionally, the Chula Vista Elementary School District sent a letter to parents today regarding a student being monitored after exposure to an individual who may have COVID-19.

While there are no known cases of COVID-19 among San Diego County residents, we understand this may lead to additional questions from your school community. This new template parent letter (in English and Spanish) includes a brief update on the situation, then restates information that schools can safely remain open, when to keep a student home from school, and what prevention measures schools are taking.

We have added the letter to our COVID-19 webpage, in addition to other resources for district leadership and school nurses.

We will share additional information as it becomes available. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need additional assistance in the meantime.
